26/05/2008 10:43:34

New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won a Rs 1,150 crore contract from HPCL-Mittal company for setting up a 153 MW power plant at the upcoming Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in Bhatinda, Punjab.

The contract, the largest-value single order secured by the BHEL for a captive power plant, has been placed by HMEL--a joint venture of HPCL and L N Mittal’s Mittal Energy Ltd.

The gas turbine-based combined cycle power plant is to be commissioned in 30 months, a BHEL spokesman told UNI here today.

BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the plant, in addition to completing civil works.

The equipment for the project will be supplied by the BHEL's plants at Hyderabad, Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Jhansi and Electronics Division, Bangalore.

Civil works, besides erection and commissioning of the plant, will be carried out by the company's Power Sector-Northern Region.
